We are a rapidly evolving, tech-oriented company committed to delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance infrastructure solutions that support our business growth. We are looking for a visionary and strategic Vice President of Infrastructure Platform to lead the management, development, and optimization of our hybrid infrastructure. This role will oversee infrastructure security, performance, disaster recovery, and vendor management, as well as contribute to organizational strategy to meet evolving business needs.

As the VP of Engineering for the Platform Infrastructure team at Dropbox, you will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and play a pivotal role in shaping the engineering direction of the company. In this position, you will build and guide a global team in charge of our infrastructure.  This includes our physical data centers, cloud infrastructure, storage systems, IT systems, and the software platforms that support our internal and external services as well as infrastructure supply chains. Your aim is to ensure our systems are secure, stable, efficient, and support the company's goals.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a forward-thinking infrastructure strategy that supports business goals, future growth, and global scale.
  • Own hybrid cloud infrastructure management—including public cloud, privately-owned colocations, and globally distributed POPs (Points of Presence).
  • Lead the development and setup of our infrastructure strategy. Work with cloud technologies. Manage our networking, servers, storage spaces, and data centers. Your work will help achieve company objectives.
  • Lead initiatives across custom-designed servers, racks, and colocation facilities.
  • Oversee development of custom-built storage software, metadata services, filesystems, and compute platforms optimized for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Drive the development and reliability of exabyte-scale storage systems serving hundreds of millions of global users.
  • Lead site reliability and technical operations, including datacenter and network operations, with a focus on automation, scale, and resiliency.
  • Design and execute disaster recovery strategies at both single- and multi-datacenter levels.
  • Establish and enforce technical and operational standards across all infrastructure systems to ensure consistency, uptime, and efficiency.
  • Manage supplier relationships, procurement, and end-to-end infrastructure supply chain operations with a multi-hundred-million-dollar budget.
  • Set technical direction, make critical architectural decisions, and ensure successful delivery of scalable, reliable infrastructure solutions.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional leaders (Product, Design, GTM, Support, ITS, etc.) to align infrastructure with company-wide goals.
  • Lead and inspire a world-class engineering organization, fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Own the delivery of business strategy and contribute to company-level planning and long-term vision.
Requirements
  • 12+ years of engineering experience, including 6+ years high-performance team management.
  • Experience managing teams of 300+ engineers
  • Skilled in balancing delivery with engineering quality, business acumen, data driven decision-making, and immediate and long-term needs
  • Strong organizational skills in influence, collaboration, and communication
  • Strong execution bias, engineering discipline, and deep technical expertise.
  • Track record of building high-performing, empowered teams with a strong culture of ownership, growth, and accountability.
  • Deep technical craft mastery and engineering discipline
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in startups and growth environments
  • Experience managing full-stack engineering teams
  • Experience leading through transformational phases.
  • Experience managing remote-first or globally distributed engineering teams.
